From Recommendation to Your Catalog
BookAmor helps patrons discover possibilities, then sends them back to your catalog.
BookAmor is a discovery and advisory layer for public libraries. It helps patrons find promising books, eBooks, audiobooks, movies, TV, music, magazines, newspapers, and video games, then points them back toward your library’s existing catalog.
It does not replace your catalog, circulation system, discovery layer, or patron account tools.
The goal is simple: make discovery easier, then connect that discovery to the library systems you already use.
What “Find in Library” Means
Each BookAmor recommendation can include a Find in Library link.
When patrons click that link, they are sent from BookAmor into your library’s catalog or discovery layer, where they can search for the item, check holdings, see availability, place holds, or sign into their library account if your catalog requires it.
This keeps BookAmor focused on advisory and keeps your catalog as the source of truth for ownership, availability, borrowing, requesting, and patron account activity.
A Discovery Layer, Not a Catalog Replacement
BookAmor is not meant to replace your ILS, catalog, discovery layer, or digital borrowing platforms.
🔍 BookAmor helps patrons discover
Patrons start with a title, format, audience, or interest and receive organized, librarian-style recommendations.
📚 Your catalog shows holdings
Your catalog remains the place where patrons check whether an item is owned, available, requestable, or downloadable.
➡ Links connect the two
Find in Library links move patrons from a recommendation into your library’s own catalog environment.
No Required ILS Integration
Standard BookAmor setup does not require a direct ILS integration.
In most cases, BookAmor can be configured to send patrons into your catalog using catalog search links. This makes setup faster and avoids complex integration work before your staff can evaluate the service.
BookAmor does not need to ingest your holdings or connect directly to your ILS in order to provide a working advisory experience.
What Happens When a Patron Clicks?
A typical BookAmor journey looks like this:
1. Start with a title
A patron enters a familiar title or uses a starter example, then chooses the format and audience level.
2. Review recommendations
BookAmor generates organized recommendation sections with brief notes explaining why each item may fit.
3. Click Find in Library
The patron selects a promising recommendation and follows the link into your catalog.
4. Use the catalog
The patron checks holdings, availability, formats, borrowing options, holds, or account-specific actions in your existing catalog.
Why This Approach Works
Libraries already invest in catalogs, discovery layers, digital lending platforms, and authentication systems. BookAmor does not try to duplicate all of that.
Instead, BookAmor focuses on the part patrons often need help with first: finding a good next possibility.
- Patrons get a friendly advisory starting point
- Staff get language for recommendation conversations
- The library’s catalog remains central
- Setup is simpler than a full systems integration
- Discovery can span more formats
- Patrons are guided back to library resources
Configured for Your Library
BookAmor is branded for your library and configured to point patrons toward your catalog.
Depending on your library’s setup, configuration may include:
- Your library name and branding
- Catalog search link structure
- Supported access method
- Format-aware catalog links where appropriate
- Staff trial access
- Anonymous usage reporting
A working demo can usually be configured so staff can test the experience with your own catalog before making a decision.
Clear Expectations for Staff and Patrons
BookAmor works best when staff understand the distinction between recommendation and availability.
BookAmor does
Generate advisory recommendations, organize results into useful sections, provide brief notes, and send patrons toward your catalog.
BookAmor does not
Replace the catalog, determine real-time holdings, manage patron accounts, circulate items, or guarantee that a recommended item is owned.
This distinction keeps the experience honest, practical, and easy for libraries to explain.
Want to see BookAmor connected to your catalog?
We can usually set up a working BookAmor demo connected to your catalog, so your staff can test recommendations, Find in Library links, and the full patron discovery flow using your own discovery environment.
